## Infants

Ready.gov's extra items for babies: infant formula, bottles, diapers, wipes and diaper rash cream ([Ready.gov](https://www.ready.gov/kit)). The Red Cross adds baby food ([Red Cross](https://redcross.org/kit)). Pack for the same number of days as the rest of the kit, and ask your pediatrician about safe feeding if clean water runs short.

## Children

- **Activities:** books, games or activities, which both lists include. Hours without power or screens go faster with something to do.
- **Comfort:** a favorite small toy or blanket.
- **Information:** a card in each child's bag with parents' names, phone numbers and an out-of-area contact.
- **Practice:** show older children where the kit is and how the radio and flashlight work.

## Pets

Ready.gov's pet kit ([Ready.gov pets guide](https://www.ready.gov/pets)):

| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Food and water | Several days' supply, food in an airtight, waterproof container, and a bowl |
| Medicine | Extra supply of regular medication, in a waterproof container |
| First aid | Supplies suited to your pet |
| ID and leash | Backup collar with ID tag, harness or leash |
| Carrier | A travel bag, crate or sturdy carrier for each pet |
| Records | Copies of registration and records, waterproof and electronic |
| Photo | A picture of you with your pet, to prove ownership if you are separated |
| Sanitation | Litter, litter box and trash bags |
| Comfort | Favorite toys, treats or bedding |

## In the builder

Enter children, infants and pets and the checklist adds their groups automatically, with the days matching your plan.

## Keeping children calm without power

Download audiobooks and stories to a phone or tablet before an emergency, so they play offline from a charged power bank; pack a few paper books, cards and a small game in the go-bag. For pets, a sturdy carrier with your contact details on it is the item people most often lack when they need to leave quickly.
